Go Coco with Coconut Grove

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival occurs every year bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate food, fun and the arts. This year, the venue introduces “Go Coco with Coconut Grove,” an event that will coincide with the Coconut Grove Arts Festival showcasing the artists, music and culinary experts taking place right before the festival. This year’s festival runs February 13-15, 2016. This venue will mirror that of the Arts Festival, with sections slated for the visual, culinary, recreational and performing arts. A global food village will be erected which will include food demonstrations and other giveaways. There will be a special section for the media to interview all participants, vendors and sponsors.

This event will be marketed to media and VIP ticket holders for a pre-celebratory event. Special "black card" invites will be sent to this select group, with a private app showcasing what events and performers will take part in the event. The event is marketed through a series of national magazine and television ads, with gift boxes sent to previous VIP ticket holders from previous years.

Musical selections will be performed throughout the event, with previews of other performing arts to follow. Vendors and sponsors will have booths set up for informational and retail purposes. Past featured artists include Duaiv, jazz soloists, and Latin Fusion musicians. There will be a preview of the international recording artists and local talent that will be performing at the festival, in addition to selections from the University of Miami Frost School of Music Jazz Band.

Sponsors for the event include The Terra Group, Baptist Health South Florida, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly, Carnival Corporation & PLC, The Lincoln Motor Company, Frameworks, Geico, The Children’s Trust, Blue Moon florida, FHA, Coca-Cola, Gold Coast Beverage Distributors, Miami Dade County, Florida Marlins, TK’s, On the Avenue Marketing, Mayfair in the Grove and others.

Tickets for this event are already on sale and available online at $15 per day. Children 12 and under, Metrorail Golden Passport and Patriot Passport holders are free.

What began in 1963 as an intimate “clothes line” art show featuring a handful of artists and a few thousand onlookers as part of a promotion for the Coconut Grove Playhouse’s production of Irma la Douce has transformed itself into South Florida’s most successful arts festival. Today, the event attracts an estimated 120,000 people to the winding streets of Coconut Grove during President’s Day weekend. Proceeds help fund year-round arts programs, which create a positive impact on our community and touch the lives of many throughout the year. Recent initiatives include the “New & Emerging Artists” category, which allows artists ages 18-29 to not only display their work for the very first time at an outdoor fine arts festival, but also partake in a hands-on Arts Symposium and gain access to a carefully-matched Experienced Festival Artist in their genre.

Miami Art Basel Presents Living Large for Art

Art Basel is one of the premier art shows in the world, with celebrities, art aficionados, collectors and window shoppers all together in the Design District and Miami Beach to come and celebrate art. Miami Art Basel presents Living Large for Art, a multi-day party where art enthusiasts can come and meet the artists behind the magic in an interesting and fun environment to complement Miami Beach’s Art Basel December 3-6, 2015. Designed like a street show, this venue will simulate a mini-art show. International and local painters will be on hand to give painting lessons, workshops to discuss texture, abstract painting, and how to make it in the business. Additional classes will be held on sculpting, and the elements that make an interesting piece. A class on how to price paintings will also be held, to discuss why paintings and sculptures are priced the way they are, and what an artist should expect when putting their creations up for sale. A perfect venue for the budding artist, the hosts and hostesses will be dressed in t-shirts that feature famous paintings.

National celebrities will make appearances for autograph signings and to discuss why they love art. There will be vendor booths set up selling paint and art supplies and additional tools to help individuals interested in the world of art. Mini sections of past paintings and sculptures will be highlighted at this event, along with information on each piece being featured during Art Basel.

Past highlights include Meem 4 Miami by Ryan McNamara, Survey featuring historical works, the premiere of Big Eyes, the movie about Walter Keane, and Public Opening Night.

The initial impetus was to find a project to honor the United States’ bicentennial; the Capitmans worked with designers Leonard Horowitz and Lillian Barber to identify a concentration of 1930s buildings in South Miami Beach that the group felt could be a historic district of 20th century architecture. The host sponsor for the Art Deco Weekend, they join others in celebrating the success of life in the 20's and 30's.

World's Largest Congo Line on Miami Beach

More and more marketing agencies today are utilizing experiential marketing as part of their client’s overall marketing plans. Experiential is marketing that consumers “experience”. Rather than traditional marketing that demonstrates a product or projects images about how consumers should feel about a product, experiential marketing is hands-on. It gives potential customers an opportunity to interact and leave feeling good about the product. It works because it builds a bond between the brand and the consumer that can be extremely powerful. Venues in Miami are becoming a popular place for many experiential marketing efforts, including one for Evian water.

South Beach was the setting for the brand’s efforts to set a record for the world’s longest roller skating conga line. The conga line was part of Evian’s “Live Young, Skate On!” event at Collins Park. Participants were treated to amusing T-Shirts, creative skate dancing, a photo booth, colorful skates, an appearance by actress Gabrielle Union, and of course lots of Evian water. The event was a perfect combination of beach, water, sunshine, and experiential marketing. When it was all said and done, 197 people participated in the event, and as you will see from this YouTube video, they were exactly the people Evian is targeting. They were successful, by the way, in setting the record.
